WHY SAFE EXISTS

Technology should make seeking help safer — not more dangerous.

For someone experiencing domestic violence, a phone can be both a lifeline and a risk. Devices may be checked, monitored or controlled by another person.

SAFE was designed around that reality. Privacy, discretion and rapid access to support are not secondary features — they are fundamental parts of the design. That includes considering what someone else may see if they inspect the user's device.

Our goal is simple: provide practical technology that helps people stay connected, reach support and maintain greater control over their personal safety.

DESIGNED DIFFERENTLY FOR A REASON

Safety technology shouldn't put someone at greater risk.

For someone experiencing domestic violence or coercive control, simply having an identifiable safety app on their phone can be dangerous.

SAFE was designed to address that reality. It can look and function like a simple, harmless app, while its safety features remain securely locked and hidden from anyone who doesn't know they are there.

For the person using SAFE, those hidden features provide access to the safety tools, trusted contacts and support connections they may need — without advertising that they are carrying a safety app.

The app can look ordinary because, sometimes, looking ordinary is part of staying safe.

CONNECTED SUPPORT

Safety doesn't have to be navigated alone.

SAFE is designed to complement the people and organizations already providing support — including shelters, social workers, support agencies and trusted personal contacts.
